Jonnawada Temple Overview
One of the popular pilgrim centres of India, is Jonnawada, which is around 15 km from the region of Nellore. It is famous for one of the two Kamakshi temples located here. The main Kamakshi temple is said to have been built here, in the year 1150 A.D. and consists of shrines dedicated to Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Kamakshamma.
The temple is popular for the 10-day festival that is held in dedication to Goddess Kamakshi, who is considered to be an incarnation of Shakti. Some of the parts of the temple like the Gopuram of the temple are made out of a single stone. Some unexplored and undiscovered villages are located on the way to this temple.
People who come here to pray to the goddess, believe that it will help them stay away from serious diseases and illness.
